Initial Needs Assessment

Initial Needs Assessment: Identifying the clients needs.

What is an Initial Needs Assessment?

The evaluation process at the beginning of a patient’s treatment journey. It involves gathering information about the patient’s condition, medical history, functional limitations, and goals. This assessment helps the physiotherapist understand the individual’s needs and develop a personalised treatment plan.

What happens during an Initial Needs Assessment?

During the INA, we provide a thorough client-centred assessment, following birth injuries, acquired brain injuries and work injuries. We work with insurance and case management companies in recommending and providing a package of care as well as identifying any equipment needs for clients.

Our techniques

Our reports are detailed and comprehensive leaving no area of need undiscovered. We are able to complete the assessment, progress and discharge proformas needed by specific companies relating to clients.

We use objective, condition specific outcome measures with all our clients to monitor change over time. Outcome measures include range of movement, photographs, video analysis, CPIP assessments, functional tests such as the timed up and go, Tinetti, Berg, GMFM, Goldsmiths Assessment of Body Symmetry and the Biodex Gait Trainer parameters.

It’s important to measure and understand change over time, we will keep you up to date with you or your client’s progress.
