Hypermobility

Hypermobility can be very common in children. It can be benign or heredity where it affects connective tissue throughout the body.

A Beighton score along with a thorough subjective history can be used to diagnose certain types of hypermobility. Further blood tests may be recommended via your GP.

Physiotherapy can help with symptom management such as providing progressive muscle strengthening programs, ideas to help with pacing of activities, core stability exercises such as guided yoga and Pilates can be beneficial. We have access to various hydrotherapy pools across the Northwest of England which can be beneficial for symptom management and exercise.

We work closely with orthotists who can assess for insoles and specialist footwear.
